Lily's point of view:
I will start by saying that I'm a mom of a ten years old girl. She's bright, a k-pop fan army to be more specific, and full of talents. But knows too little about the world. It's my job as a mother to guide her and enlighten her on things, along with her dad in teamwork parenting. She loves the songs and dances along but still early to hang around with guys' pics on her bag. So, when she reaches the right age, I will step by step help her with that without depriving her of the things she likes. I have the responsibility over her but that doesn't mean I have the right to kill her personality and smash her tastes if I dislike them. She can have her own choices as long as there's no harm done.
You know that supervision is not the same as stalking right?! Funny that
parents are spending so much time on their phones but can't check what their
kids are watching or playing... suddenly, oops! You didn't know their grades
were low right?
And now you want to blame the music they listen to or the time they spend on their phones... hum, I see. Where were you to avoid that? We both know the answer. I came across the recent news of a sad teenage girl looking at her k-pop merchandise burned by her father who blamed her low grades on her music. That's so wrong at so many levels, and I would say to this father or any parent that chooses this way, don't be surprised if tomorrow you can't communicate with your child and your relationship is just broken. Back to the topic of why this is wrong? Simple! She needed guidance and maybe a little help with her studies. Go check what is happening to her. Do you want her to focus more? Remove the distraction temporarily and make her work more efficiently to achieve her goal at school, and then reward her with her stuff back. Is it that hard? No, but it takes time and some dedication... but wait! You decided to become a parent but had no idea what it is like? What you thought? Flowers and rainbows? Parenting is the hardest thing in this life!
But hey, if you manage well, that small hug and kiss
at the end of the day is the best thing in life. Hug your child more and be
there more. Many hazards will be avoided it. Love your child! Is a command ;)
This is soooooo sweet!!! There's no better than parents' support and understanding. lots of love to this sweet family
